Job summary

FCP Services is seeking a Traveling Painter to perform high-quality interior and exterior painting and surface prep across commercial and facilities environments. The role requires extensive travel nationwide and staying on-site at client locations for 7–14 days per project.

  • Collaborate with crew and leadership to deliver high-quality workmanship.

Position Summary

The Traveling Painter is responsible for performing high-quality painting and surface preparation work across multiple job sites nationwide. This role is critical to delivering consistent workmanship and supporting efficient project execution in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

This role supports project-based and ongoing painting/coatings work across commercial and facilities environments.

This position requires a high level of flexibility and commitment, with frequent travel and extended time on the road. It offers strong opportunities for career growth into Lead Painter and Foreman roles.

Key Responsibilities
Painting & Surface Preparation
  • Perform interior and exterior commercial painting and coatings work
  • Prepare surfaces through washing, scraping, sanding, blasting, or other required methods
  • Mix and apply paints, coatings, epoxies, urethanes, and protective finishes
  • Execute work with attention to detail, quality, and durability
Jobsite Execution
  • Follow direction from Foreman or Lead Painter to complete assigned tasks
  • Work efficiently to meet production goals across multiple job sites
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas
  • Adapt to varying project scopes, conditions, and timelines
Travel & Field Work
  • Travel to job sites across multiple locations, typically staying 7-14 days per project
  • Work extended schedules, including potential night shifts as required
  • Represent FCP Services professionally while on the road
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements
  • Use PPE and handle coatings and materials safely
  • Identify and communicate jobsite hazards promptly
Teamwork & Development
  • Work collaboratively with crew members and leadership
  • Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic
  • Maintain a positive attitude in physically demanding and changing environments
  • Show willingness to learn new skills and grow within the company
Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial painting or coatings
  • Experience working on large-scale or multi-site commercial projects
  • Experience operating lifts such as scissor lifts or boom lifts

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Field-based role requiring extensive travel (up to 100%)
  • Work performed on active job sites in indoor and outdoor environments
  • May include night shifts and extended work periods
  • Physically demanding work including:
    • Standing and walking for extended periods (up to 10 hours)
    • Climbing ladders and working at heights
    • Repetitive arm and wrist movement
    • Lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching overhead
    • Lifting up to 60 lbs on a regular basis

This position reports to a Foreman.
No direct reports.
