Job summary

National Coatings Inc. is seeking an experienced painting foreman to lead on-site teams and ensure top-quality finishes. You will supervise 5–10 crew members, manage schedules, and uphold safety standards across commercial projects in Raleigh and surrounding areas.

The role emphasizes strong communication, meticulous workmanship, and the ability to read blueprints to interpret project requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in commercial painting with supervisory duties.
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
• Knowledge of safety regulations for painting and construction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
• Reading drawings/blueprints is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead crews of 5–10 on client sites and supervise daily work.
• Plan work scope, materials, and timeframes with efficiency.
• Ensure safety protocols and PPE usage are followed.
• Coordinate with clients and report progress and changes.
• Oversee surface prep, priming, painting, and finishings.
• Document reports, timecards, and field production data.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Extensive Material Knowledge: Proficient in various painting materials and application methods, with a solid grasp of quality control and material management.


• Goal-Oriented Leadership: Possesses strong organizational and analytical skills, focusing on achieving set goals.


• Effective Crew Management: Demonstrates ability to lead crews of 5-10 individuals safely and productively; assist in the continuous training and development of field staff.


• Surface Preparation and Painting: Capable of preparing, priming, sanding, sealing, and painting multiple surfaces using diverse materials such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy, waterproofing, and heat-resistant finishes.


• Equipment Maintenance: Hands-on experience in equipment repair, able to identify and address minor issues promptly.


• Professional Representation: Maintains a professional demeanor, representing the company positively while on client job sites.


• Documentation: Completes required reports accurately and promptly, including daily field reports, timecards, field production reports, and time & material reports.


• Change Orders: Understands the importance of and procedure for completing field change orders and tickets.


• Equipment Proficiency: Trained and proficient in operating multi-level scaffolding, extension ladders, and spray systems.


• Maintenance and Safety: Oversees proper usage and maintenance of PPE, tools, assigned trucks, and other equipment ensuring a safe work environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in commercial painting, including proven supervisory or foreman experience


• Ability to travel up to 75% of your time


• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to painting and construction activities


• Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) with ability to work independently and as part of a team


• High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship


• Ability to read drawings/blueprints is a plus


• Valid driver\'s license with a clean driving record
