Job summary

National Coatings is seeking an experienced commercial painter to join our team in Bozeman, MT. You will prepare surfaces, match colors, and apply paints to new and existing structures with precision, while upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years of experience in exterior and interior commercial painting, wallcoverings, and coatings, with strong attention to detail and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 4+ yrs of experience as a commercial painter - exterior and interior painting, wallcoverings and coatings preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Surface preparation: priming, sanding, sealing, patching using a variety of paints and finishes.
• Color matching and product verification to match job files.
• Apply materials to new and existing construction with precision.
• Represent the company professionally at client sites.
• Read and interpret blueprints and scope specifications.
• Complete reports in a timely manner.
• Process field change orders and submittals accurately.
• Operate and maintain scaffolding, ladders, and spray systems.
• Maintain tools and vehicles, ensuring a clean, safe work area.
• Apply knowledge of painting materials and methods in practical settings.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces by priming, sanding, sealing, and patching, utilizing a variety of painting materials including varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy, waterproofing, and heat-resistant finishes.
• Color Matching: Cross-check colors and confirm supplied products to match job files.
• Application Skills: Apply materials to new construction, existing, and remodeled buildings with precision and expertise.
• Professional Representation: Exhibit a professional demeanor and effectively represent the company while working at client job sites.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Understand and interpret blueprints and scope specifications to ensure accurate execution of painting tasks.
• Documentation: Complete required reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Change Orders: Understand the importance of and proficiently complete field change orders and submittals.
• Equipment Proficiency: Trained and capable with multi-level scaffolding, extension ladders, and spray systems.
• Maintenance: Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned trucks, ensuring they are in optimal condition; always keep a clean and safe work area.
• Extensive Knowledge: Possess and apply in-depth knowledge of various painting materials and application methods.

Experience and Qualifications:

• 4+ yrs of experience as a commercial painter - experience in both exterior and interior commercial painting, wallcoverings, and coatings highly preferred
• Exceptional attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to safety protocols and procedures
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
