Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Traveling Technician to provide skilled craftsmanship for maintenance and installation of low voltage electrical systems across diverse sites. The role involves wiring, cabling, testing, and service of fiber and copper networks, with a focus on safety, documentation, and teamwork.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years of related experience.
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to read plans and understand diagrams; English proficiency.
• Ability to operate equipment such as table saws, drills, and rigging.
• Teamwork, communication, and safety mindedness.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring and fixtures.
• Complete physical installations of structured cabling, pathways, and racks.
• Install and service low voltage cabling and fiber optic systems.
• Document work via time reports, productivity tracking, and QC inspections.
• Test electrical systems and continuity with appropriate instruments.
• Interpret plans, drawings, and work orders to sequence repairs and installations.
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow codes and procedures.
• Monitor and reorder supplies as needed.
