Job summary

J.E. Shurden Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Site Supervisor to lead field operations on projects across the United States.

This is a travel-based role requiring extended stays at project locations. You will coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, read and interpret plans, monitor safety, quality, and schedule, and communicate project progress to leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience leading heavy civil construction crews and coordinating field activities.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; capable of making quick decisions in the field.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise heavy civil construction crews and daily field operations
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and daily work activities
• Plan and sequence work to maintain project schedules and productivity
• Monitor work for quality and compliance with project plans and specifications
• Coordinate excavation, grading, underground utility, concrete, and other heavy civil activities
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and project requirements
• Monitor employee attendance, performance, productivity, and timekeeping
• Communicate project progress, delays, material needs, and field concerns to leadership
• Enforce safety requirements, including PPE and toolbox talks
• Promptly report injuries, incidents, equipment issues, and significant jobsite concerns
