Job summary

North Sky Communications is seeking an experienced Traveling HDD Operator to perform underground bores for utility installations across Oregon. You will set up, calibrate, and operate drill rigs and drive heavy equipment to job sites.

The role requires 1–3 years of HDD experience, a clean Class A CDL, ability to travel, read blueprints, and maintain safety standards on diverse sites. We offer strong benefits and regular pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–3 years hands-on HDD drilling experience in utility construction.
• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record, tanker endorsement preferred.
• Willingness to travel statewide across Oregon, including overnight stays.
• Knowledge of ground conditions, mud mixing ratios, and reading utility prints/blueprints.
• Ability to lift 50–70 lbs and work outdoors in varied weather.

Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and operate HDD drill rigs for underground bores.
• Transport equipment safely using Class A vehicles.
• Perform pre-bore inspections and verify 811 locates; oversee potholing.
• Mix drilling fluids and perform routine maintenance.
• Coordinate with crew to maintain line and grade and comply with safety plans.
• Travel to active project sites across Oregon and stay on-site as needed.
