Job summary

North Sky Communications in Oregon seeks an experienced Traveling Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator to join our underground utility team. You will set up and operate directional drill rigs to install fiber and conduit at multiple job sites across the state, with a safety-first mindset and a willingness to travel.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL, 1–3 years HDD experience, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years hands-on HDD drill rig experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel statewide in Oregon.

Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and operate HDD drill rigs for underground bores.
• Drive CDL vehicles to transport rigs and equipment across Oregon.
• Perform pre-bore inspections and verify 811 locates.
• Mix drilling fluids and perform basic maintenance.
• Coordinate with crew to maintain line and grade and ensure safety.
