Job summary

North Sky Communications seeks an experienced Traveling HDD Operator to run directional boring rigs for fiber, conduit, and utility installations across Oregon. The role requires statewide travel and a strong safety mindset.

The position is full-time with travel across Oregon, operating Vermeer and Ditch Witch rigs, and coordinating with the crew to maintain line and grade under safety standards.

Qualifications

• Licensing: Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record.
• Minimum 1–3 years operating HDD drill rigs in utility construction.
• Ability to travel statewide with overnight stays as needed.
• Understanding of ground conditions and reading utility prints.

Responsibilities

• Set up, calibrate, and operate HDD drill rigs for underground bores.
• Drive equipment to sites safely across Oregon.
• Perform pre-bore inspections, locate utilities, and oversee potholing.
• Mix drilling fluids and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
• Coordinate with crew to maintain line and grade and follow safety plans.
