Job summary

Southeastern Retina Associates (SERA) is seeking a Patient Service Representative for our Knoxville ophthalmology practice. You will learn front office duties, including checking patients in and out and scheduling follow-up appointments, with travel across the Knoxville area required.

Starting pay is $18 per hour. The role involves interacting with patients, verifying insurance, collecting copays, and handling charts and referrals to support a smooth patient experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a medical office environment is preferred.
• Proficiency in medical administrative support tasks.
• Familiarity with electronic health records, particularly Epic.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Open/Close Location and manage front desk tasks.
• Check current insurance and verify coverage is up to date.
• Verify demographics, phone number, and address; ensure accuracy.
• Collect co-pays, balances and deductibles at entry.
• Scan necessary patient information (insurance cards, IDs, referrals, HIPAA forms).
• Schedule follow-up appointments and prepare charts for the next day.
