Job summary

S. A. Comunale Co., Inc. is seeking a Traveling Inspector to perform NFPA-based inspections of water-based fire systems and fire alarm systems. The role requires travel throughout the state and a focus on growing inspection revenues while ensuring NFPA compliance.

This position demands the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with customer development, quality performance, and NFPA code knowledge across fire protection systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years’ experience performing inspections is required.
• Ability to travel is required.
• Retain an individual state license to perform inspections on sprinkler, fire pump, hydrants, fire alarm, and fire extinguishers - required.
• Knowledge of NFPA 10, 25, and 72 is required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.
• Ability to obtain all required certifications, including NICET is required.
• NICET Level II in water based or fire alarm systems is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds is required.
• Experience utilizing a tablet, smart phone, and/or other technology is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform NFPA 25 based inspections on wet, dry, deluge, pre-action, standpipe systems, fire hydrants, and fire pumps.
• Perform NFPA 72 based inspections on fire alarm systems, including all components of those systems.
• Perform NFPA 10 based inspections on fire extinguishers.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues and describe to owners/service managers for repairs.
• Monitor and assure progress and completion of all assigned tasks.
• Complete and submit all work tickets and inspection reports in a timely manner.
• Responsible for self-scheduling of daily inspections.
• Up-sell Company capabilities to new and existing customers.
• Perform inspections from man lifts at elevations of 30 to 40 feet.
• Perform annual inspections on both domestic and fire backflows.
