Job summary

Independence Excavating is seeking a Traveling Site Safety Specialist to join our safety team. This role travels 100% of the time between job sites, performing inspections, drills, and safety training, and creating site-specific safety plans.

You will report to the Demolition Safety Manager and support field crews with compliance and safety program administration. The ideal candidate has OSHA 30, 4 years in construction safety or a management-related safety role, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 required.
• 4 years’ experience in construction safety or related management role.
• High school diploma with safety coursework; AS/BS preferred or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to travel 100% of the time and work on project sites in all weather.
• Regulatory knowledge: OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ICC.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-house site inspections, drills, and training as required.
• Maintain safety paperwork required by project owner for IX-related activities.
• Perform post-incident reports for safety-related incidents.
• Develop, implement, and enforce site safety plans.
• Coordinate industrial hygiene compliance on job sites.
• Conduct safety and compliance inspections on projects, shops, yards, and offices.
• Ensure drivers and vehicles meet safety requirements; manage insurance and reporting.
• Assist in external safety-related inspections and corrective actions.
• Stay current with NFPA and OSHA standards.
