Job summary

Ledcor is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator for civil construction projects across Arizona and neighboring states, with crews rotating approximately every four weeks. The role requires operating the CAT 308 and supporting fiber optic/underground utilities work, conduit placement, and safety-focused execution in diverse outdoor conditions.

Candidate must have at least 5 years of excavator experience, read drawings, and work safely around utilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of excavator experience in civil construction, roadbuilding, utility construction or related industry.
• Experience with fiber optic or underground utility installation is a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of backfill placement, lift thickness, soil conditions, moisture and compaction.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret utility locates.
• Strong understanding of safe digging practices and job site safety standards.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate CAT 308 mini excavator for civil construction and earthwork activities.
• Safely excavate around utilities, following locate procedures.
• Place soil and aggregate in lifts to aid compaction.
• Recognize soil moisture/compaction responses and adjust as needed.
• Support conduit placement and cable installation to keep production moving.
• Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Laborer duties and crew support when needed; team-first mindset.
• Communicate clearly with crew and supervisors to meet daily goals.
