Job summary

Southwest Concrete Paving is seeking an Assistant Mechanic & Parts Runner to support heavy equipment teams across the western United States. This entry-level role offers hands-on training, travel up to 100%, and opportunities to grow into a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

You will assist mechanics with routine services, fetch parts, keep shop organized, and help set up jobsites while learning hydraulics, engines, and diagnostics on the job.

Qualifications

• No prior mechanic experience required; training provided.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver''s license with a safe driving record.
• Must be willing to travel up to 100%.
• Must be able to work all shifts including days, nights, weekends, and overtime.
• REAL ID or ability to obtain before start date.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors in heat/cold/dust.
• Must have strong work ethic and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Safe practices must be followed in all activities.
• Mechanic Support - assist with routine services.
• Parts Running - pick up and deliver parts to field.
• Shop & Job Site Organization - maintain shop and inventory.
• Equipment Prep - set up service areas and tear down.
• Documentation - track part numbers and communicate needs.
• Hands-On Learning - observe and assist during troubleshooting.
• Communication - coordinate with crews to meet equipment needs.
• Other duties as assigned to support paving operations.
