Job summary

Fairstead seeks a Traveling Compliance Specialist to ensure adherence to regulatory agreements across multiple properties. You will manage occupancy cycles, tenant verification, and lease processes while coordinating with the compliance team to communicate subsidy information.

The role requires on-site visits, strong knowledge of HUD regulations, Yardi/RealPage experience, and bilingual communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Five (5) years recertification experience in Project-Based Section 8.
• Advanced knowledge of HUD policies and procedures.
• Proficient in MS Office, HUD EIV/TRACS, and HUD MOR requirements.
• Yardi and RealPage experience required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Required to make regular on-site visits.
• LIHTC experience is a plus.
• Affordable Housing certifications such as AHM, COS, TaCC, HCCP preferred.
• Able to present information clearly to management, vendors, and colleagues.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Develop schedule for occupancy cycle, inspections, and tenant selection.
• Enforce occupancy policy per regulatory agreements.
• Coordinate initial, interim, and annual lease processes with compliance.
• Notify compliance team for residents out of compliance with rent or rules.
• Organize files to track housing court actions and maintain confidentiality.
• Prepare move-in packages for review by compliance team.
• Provide task supervision to maintenance and on-site security as requested.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents.
• Complete and assist with housing program requirements (Annual Owner’s Certification, monitoring agency reviews).
• Execute requirements per Fair Housing, Section 8 programs, and HUD oversight.
• Participate in training to ensure site compliance with various government programs.
• Assist Property Managers in responding to third-party monitoring requests.
• Provide superior customer service in communications with residents.
• Travel required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
