Job summary

Fairstead ESC LLC is seeking a Compliance Quality Assurance and Auditing Specialist to ensure ongoing compliance across its portfolio. The role conducts audits, on-site inspections, and reviews financial records to mitigate risks and support regulatory reporting.

The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years in affordable housing compliance, strong HUD/LIHTC knowledge, and the ability to travel about 85% nationwide to review properties and coordinate corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in affordable housing compliance or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of HUD regulations, LIHTC requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Experience with data analysis, report writing, and record keeping.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management software (Yardi, MRI).
  • Ability to travel nationwide approximately 85% of the time for on-site reviews and investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular audits of property files and on-site inspections to assess compliance.
  • Review and analyze financial records including rent rolls and budgets.
  • Monitor HUD and LIHTC compliance and other regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks and develop corrective action plans.
  • Prepare reports summarizing audit findings and recommendations.
  • Maintain audit documentation and assist with regulatory responses.
  • Develop and deliver training for property management on compliance matters.
