Job summary

Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics is seeking a Wellness Instructor to plan, lead, and deliver engaging group wellness classes across Whitman County. Travel to community and clinical sites is required, with a focus on health, functional movement, and well-being.

This role emphasizes safety, privacy, and high-quality instruction under supervision. Ideal candidates will hold a group fitness instructor certification (and a personal training background preferred), plus CPR/AED.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, families, and staff.
• Current CPR/AED certification (AHA BLS) or ability to become certified within 30 days of employment.
• Preferred: national group fitness instructor certification (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM or equivalent).
• Personal training certification or background.

Responsibilities

• Plans and leads safe, evidence-informed group wellness and exercise classes for diverse participant populations.
• Adapts class content and intensity to ensure participant safety and appropriate challenge.
• Coordinates with referring therapists or healthcare staff regarding participant progress and any observed concerns.
• Manages class setup, breakdown, and equipment transport to off-site locations.
• Collects attendance, progress, and outcomes as directed.
