Job summary

Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics is seeking a Wellness Instructor to plan, lead, and deliver safe group wellness classes for diverse participants in Whitman County. You will travel to community and clinical sites to provide exercise programming that promotes health and well-being under supervision of the Therapy Services Senior Manager.

Responsibilities include scheduling, class preparation, data tracking of attendance and outcomes, and adapting content for varied fitness levels while ensuring

Qualifications

• Required: excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Required: interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, families and staff.
• Preferred: current group fitness instructor certification from a recognized organization (e.g., ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, or equivalent).
• Preferred: personal training certification or background.
• Preferred: basic understanding of human anatomy and exercise physiology.
• Preferred: college coursework in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develops and plans group wellness class schedules, formats, and curriculum in coordination with the Senior Manager of Therapy Services.
• Coordinates travel logistics to deliver classes at community and clinical sites.
• Identifies and prioritizes participant needs to tailor programming for varied fitness levels and health conditions.
• Collects attendance, progress, and outcomes data as directed and supports program evaluation.
• Adapts class content and intensity to ensure safety and appropriate challenge; responds to emergencies when needed.
