Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for an ambulatory surgery center OR Tech role requiring prior travel experience. You will join a busy ASC team handling general OR, podiatry, orthopedic cases with 1:1 patient ratio.

Day shifts are 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM on a 3x10 schedule. The position emphasizes aseptic technique, instrument processing, and adherence to universal protocols, with travel incentives and housing support included.

Qualifications

• BLS certification is required.
• CST certification preferred.
• SGNA certification preferred.
• 3-4 years of surgical technology experience required.
• Prior travel assignment experience required.
• Community hospital experience preferred.
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, instrument processing, sterilization and universal protocol/time-out procedures.
• Experience with case cart preparation, fire safety, and specimen handling/labeling preferred.
• License required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Ambulatory surgery center setting performing general OR, podiatry, orthopedic, and general surgery procedures.
• Patient ratio of 1:1.
• Day shift schedule, 3x10-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Procedures include ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, fracture reductions, bunionectomy, ankle fusion, and hernia repairs.
• Utilizes equipment including drills, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, endoscopes, and washer/sterilizers.
• Maintain sterile fields and support surgical teams across orthopedics, podiatry, and general surgery.
• Ensure proper instrument processing, sterilization, and equipment documentation.
• Follow isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and sharps safety guidelines.
• Participate in emergency management and fire safety procedures.
• Handle and reprocess flexible endoscopes and other scope equipment as needed.
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request allowed per contract.
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
• Accepts local candidates within a 50-mile radius at local rate; returning staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position.
