American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with vascular experience for a hospital Surgical Services department position.

The role covers a 26-week contract with a Monday–Friday schedule, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and call every other day and weekend. Responsibilities include assisting with vascular cases, maintaining sterile technique, and coordinating with the OR team to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• BLS certification required.
• NBSTSA CST or TS-C required; license if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Surgical Services department with 15 OR suites including hybrid and cardiothoracic rooms.
• Act as primary scrub or assistant for operative procedures.
• Prepare instruments and supplies, maintain sterile field during setup.
• Pass instruments and assist physicians during cases under direct supervision.
• Perform counts and collaborate with circulating nurse during procedures.
• Assist with patient positioning and draping.
• Complete post-case cleanup and transport to Central Sterile Processing.
• Ensure the surgical suite is disinfected and restocked for next case.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
• Technical Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or comparable military training
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) required
• License required if applicable

Responsibilities

• Hospital Surgical Services department featuring 15 OR suites, including hybrid and cardiothoracic rooms, plus PACU, sterile supply, pharmacy, and scheduling support areas
• CST Vascular focus
• 26-week contract
• Monday through Friday schedule, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
• Call required every other day and every other weekend
• Serve as primary scrub person or assistant for operative procedures
• Prepare for surgical cases by ensuring instruments and supplies are sterilized and available, and maintaining the sterile field during setup
• Pass instruments and assist the physician during cases, including cutting suture material and applying electrocautery to clamps under direct surgeon supervision when needed
• Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts, and collaborate with the circulating nurse throughout the case
• Assist with patient positioning and draping
• Perform post-case cleanup duties including gross decontamination of instruments and following proper transport protocols to Central Sterile Processing
• Ensure the surgical suite is disinfected, restocked, and ready for the next procedure
• Complete mandatory hospital education and maintain compliance with HR and Employee Health requirements
