Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital Operating Room position requiring BLS certification and ORT program completion or equivalent scrub tech experience.

The role is in a hospital setting with day shifts, 40 hours per week, and occasional call. You will work under RN supervision, using Epic EMR for charting and supporting sterile processing and patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Complete ORT program or 2 years scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last 3 years.
• 1 year of experience in the specialty being submitted for is required.
• BLS certification required (AHA), not expired before start.
• License required if applicable.
• Active National Certification as ORT in Surgery or CST preferred.
• Maintain a sterile field and environmental safety.
• Recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes.
• Experience in sterilization processes.
• Experience responding to emergency situations during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Hospital Operating Room setting.
• Day shift, 5x8, 40 hours per week; days with call required.
• Epic EMR used for charting.
• Function as a member of the surgical team under RN supervision, reporting to Surgical Services management.
• Maintain accountability for sterilization criteria for the operating room and all surgical items.
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons during procedures within the ORT scope of practice.
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure.
• Participate in the surgical operations safety plan and system-wide surgical initiatives.
• Returning staff must be separated from any Intermountain facility for at least one year before a travel assignment.

• 1 year of experience in the specialty being submitted for is required
• BLS certification required (AHA, must not expire prior to start)
• License required if applicable
• Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist credential preferred
• Ability to maintain a sterile field and ensure environmental safety
• Ability to recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes
• Experience in sterilization processes and requirements
• Experience responding to emergency situations during surgical procedures
