Qualifikationen

• NBSTSA certification is required and recognized in SC.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required.
• License required if applicable.

Aufgaben

• Support operative team under surgeon supervision to facilitate safe procedures.
• Prepare OR rooms, supplies, and equipment, ensuring availability.
• Maintain sterile instruments and equipment; assist with positioning, prepping, and draping.
• Assist with instrument, sharps, and sponge counts and time-out verifications.
• Maintain sterile field and pass instruments during surgeries.
• Assist in specimen handling and proper body mechanics during patient handling.
• Prepare instruments for terminal sterilization and assist with terminal room cleaning.
• Adhere to PPE, infection control, and safety standards.

Requirements

• Ability to perform confidently in open heart and vascular surgery cases

Responsibilities

• Hospital CVOR unit averaging 6 cases per day
• Open heart and vascular surgery patient population
• Weekday hours with weekend call requirements
• 26-week assignment length
• Work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures
• Ensure availability and preparedness of OR rooms, supplies, and equipment
• Maintain sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment with working knowledge of each device
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping per department standards
• Perform initial and additional instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator
• Participate in surgical site and patient verification during time out procedures
• Maintain sterile field using highest standard of sterile technique
• Prepare and pass off specimens as appropriate
• Assist in lifting, turning, and positioning patients using proper body mechanics
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization and assist with terminal room cleaning
• Use standard precautions and appropriate PPE when handling hazardous substances including blood and body fluids
• Demonstrate competency in access control, emergency management, infection control, communication, and pre/intra/post procedural patient care
