American Traveler is seeking a travel Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night-shift position at a university medical center in Columbus, Ohio. This assignment runs 13 weeks with 36 hours per week (3x12s), starting January 4, 2027.

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience, an active Ohio RRT license (CRT accepted), BLS, and ACEN/CCNE-accredited education. Duties include ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care in adult ICUs and emergency departments.

Description

Details

• Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit within a university medical center
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30), 36 hours per week
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating between campuses may be required
• Works in adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Performs ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Administers aerosolized and inhaled medications
• Performs airway management including extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• RRT certification required (CRT also acceptable, not both)
• BLS certification required
• Active Ohio State RRT license required and must be in hand at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
• High school diploma or official transcript required for compliance
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Experience with oxygen therapy including high flow nasal cannula and trach collar

• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or formal leadership role; no coworker references accepted
• Former employees eligible for travel assignments after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel positions at this facility
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting promptly after accepting an offer, including a lifetime background check
