Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Telemetry Stepdown Unit in California. The role requires ACLS and Epic EMR experience, with an active CA RN license and BLS.

NIHSS cert within 6 months is also required; a BSN is preferred and 6 months of cardiac telemetry/stepdown is desirable. Responsibilities include caring for patients on SDU/PCU/SCU with telemetry monitoring and post-intervention care, along with ECG interpretation, medication administration, IV therapy, and CNA supervision.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification from an approved vendor required.
• NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 6 months of cardiac stepdown or telemetry experience within the last 2 years preferred.
• No candidates with a prior hit on license will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Step Down Unit (SDU/PCU/SCU) within an acute care hospital that includes a Level III NICU and county-designated trauma center.
• Provides nursing care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring and cardiac stepdown level care.
• Manages patients post coronary intervention, permanent pacemaker placement, AICD placement, and acute coronary syndromes.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Day shift schedule from 0700 to 1930.
• Floating to Med-Surg required as needed.
• Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages patient care during life-threatening emergencies.
• Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel within their scope of practice.
• Verifies alarm settings with Monitor Technician per policy and demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and placement.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills in managing patients post femoral sheath removal using a Femostop device.
• Competent in medication administration, IV therapy including blood products, and care of indwelling catheters and drains.
• Position is represented by CNA (California Nurses Association).
• Candidates with more than 5 days of requested RTO will be automatically declined.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates with no radius restriction.
• Travelers may only be submitted to one hospital within the Adventist Health system at a time.
