Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an RN for a PCU/System Float Pool position in a Level III Trauma Center community hospital in Washington. Requires at least 1 year of telemetry or PCU experience and an active WA license or compact license.

The role involves floating across Medical/Surgical, Acute Respiratory, ED/MS Overflow, and Progressive Care units. You will handle COPD, CHF, sepsis, AKI/CKD, DVT, PE, wounds, drains, and cardiac drips, with 12-hour night shifts and rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license is required.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry or PCU experience is required.
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm interpretation exam during compliance.

Responsibilities

• Float across Medical/Surgical, Acute Respiratory, ED/MS Overflow, and Progressive Care units within scope of practice.
• Care for Medical/Surgical patients including COPD, CHF, sepsis, AKI/CKD, DVT, PE, cellulitis, pancreatitis, and ETOH withdrawal.
• Handle Surgical/Ortho caseload including joints, GI, GU, GYN, podiatry, ENT.
• Care for Acute Respiratory patients with COPD, pneumonia, CHF using high flow and BiPAP.
• Provide PCU care in Critical Care Unit-adjacent Progressive Care beds (no ICU).
• Manage Afib with RVR and q4h checks on PCU/MedSurg patients.
• Maintain patient ratios (1:5 MedSurg, 1:3 PCU), no CNA support.
• Night shifts 12 hours (1900-0730) with every other weekend.
• No on-call requirement, occasional low census.
• EMR: Epic; IV Pumps: ICU Plum Medical; Pyxis medication dispensing.
• Supported by CNAs, Charge RN, 24/7 phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, centralized telemetry with techs.
• OT, PT, SLP support during day shifts.
• Rapid Response/Code Team available for support.

• Active WA or compact RN license required

• Minimum 1 year of true telemetry or PCU experience required
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm interpretation exam during the compliance process
• Skills required include high flow O2, chest tubes, peripheral IV starts/maintenance, wound care/dressing changes, wound vac management, drain management (JP, hemovac), nephrostomy tube care, pain management, PCA, and central line management
• Experience managing cardiac drips including Heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and nitro required

Responsibilities

• System Float Pool position in a Level III Trauma Center community hospital
• Floats between Medical/Surgical, Acute Respiratory, ED/MS Overflow, and Progressive Care units anywhere in the hospital within scope of practice
• Medical/Surgical patients include COPD, CHF, sepsis, AKI/CKD, DVT, PE, cellulitis, pancreatitis, and ETOH withdrawal

• Acute Respiratory floor cares for COPD, pneumonia, CHF, and other respiratory patients using high flow and BiPap
• Progressive Care beds are located within the Critical Care Unit, caring for PCU-level patients only (no ICU, cath lab, major cardiac surgery, neuro surgery, or trauma patients)
• PCU caseload includes Afib with RVR and q4h checks for medical and surgical progressive care patients
• Patient ratios are 1:5 on MedSurg and 1:3 on PCU with no CNA support
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730) with every other weekend rotation
• No on-call requirement, though low census is possible
• EMR: Epic; IV Pump: ICU Plum Medical; Medication dispensing via Pyxis
• Supported by CNAs on Med-Surg units, Charge RN as a resource, 24/7 phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist coverage, and centralized tele monitoring with techs
