Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a teaching hospital's Level III trauma center in Minnesota. The role focuses on cardiac/telemetry intermediate care with post-CABG/valve patients, complex arrhythmias, and respiratory failure, in a 317-bed facility.

Day shift 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, every other weekend; requires MN RN license, BLS/ACLS, 2+ years; travel-friendly candidates welcome; housing and licensure reimbursements offered.

Qualifications

  • Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted).
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac/telemetry intermediate care experience.
  • Competency with vasoactive IV drips, BiPAP, insulin drips (endotool), and post-op care for CABG/valve replacement/thoracotomy patients required.
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience preferred.
  • Skills include IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, cardiac drip titration, temporary/permanent pacemaker care, and wound care.
  • Minimum of 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
  • Nursys verification and copies of certifications required for consideration

Responsibilities

  • Cardiac/Telemetry Intermediate Care Unit (PCU) setting in an acute care teaching hospital.
  • Level III trauma center with 317 staffed beds.
  • Patient population includes post-CV procedure patients (CABG, valve replacement, Watchman, TAVR), CHF, DKA/HHS, thoracotomy, cardio-renal syndrome, respiratory failure, and arrhythmias.
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM).
  • Required to work every other weekend.
  • No on-call requirements.
  • Will float within hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby as needed.
  • Uses Epic (Excellian) charting system.
  • Provide direct patient care in a cardiac intermediate care setting managing complex cardiovascular and respiratory conditions.
  • Navy scrub color required.
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered, with no local radius exception for this unit.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • RTO ideally should not exceed 5 days during the assignment.
  • Returning staff must have been gone at least 3 months since their last shift worked as a perm employee (staff or per diem) to be eligible.
  • Facility does not provide references to travelers post-assignment or to those who previously worked as perm staff.
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated for this position.
