American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment in Louisiana. Requires 2 years of specialty experience, and an active Compact or LA RN license in hand. BLS is required; ACLS preferred. Teaching hospital and prior charge nurse experience are pluses.

• Maintain patient safety with 1:4–5 ratios and 18:45–07:15 shifts.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a compact or LA RN license in hand.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand upon consideration
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with chest tube management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and monitoring
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration
• Driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• PCU/Cardiac Telemetry/MS-Tele/Neuro Stepdown unit setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
• No call-in required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Provide care for cardiac telemetry, PCU, and neuro stepdown patients including CVA, seizure disorders, and spinal cord injury cases
• Administer medications including heparin protocols and PCA, and monitor procedural sedation
• Manage substance withdrawal and genitourinary care including continuous bladder irrigation
• Orientation held five days a week
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to starting contract (Charge RNs not accepted)
• Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Former permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be listed on the profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescindment
