Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a MedSurg/Tele Observation RN for a 12-hour night shift in an acute care hospital with telemetry on all beds. The role requires at least 2 years of acute MedSurg experience and an AZ or compact RN license, with BLS/ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred.

You will float across MedSurg units and ICU to cover overflow patients, using Allscripts EMR, with patient ratios set by acuity. Scrubs color is flexible, and some housing/travel incentives may apply.

Qualifications

• Active AZ or compact RN license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA); PALS preferred
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute MedSurg care setting

Responsibilities

• Work in a 10-bed MedSurg unit with telemetry capability on all beds within an acute care, Level III trauma hospital
• 12-hour night shift schedule
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 days, 1:6 nights, and 1:4 for pediatric patients, adjusted based on acuity
• Support staff includes tele techs, charge nurse, HUCs, and PCTs
• Float to all MedSurg units and ICU to cover overflow patients
• Uses Allscripts EMR
• Deliver direct patient care on a MedSurg unit with telemetry monitoring capabilities
• Nurse managers conduct rounds but do not provide direct patient care
• Any color scrub permitted; scrubs not provided
• Limited to 3 cancellations per 13-week assignment
