Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric RN for a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center. The role requires at least 2 years of pediatric nursing experience and a CT or compact RN license. Night shifts are 3x12s (19:00-07:00) with a 1:4 patient ratio and floating as needed.

Vaccines (flu, COVID) are required unless exempt; teaching hospital experience is preferred. Additional duties include disaster response participation, Epic charting, and travel eligibility.

Qualifications

• Active CT license or Compact license
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years pediatric nursing experience
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, extremity fracture/cast care, chest tube management, NG tube insertion/management, and post-acute abdominal surgery care required
• Preferred skills in central line blood draw and central/implanted line care
• Experience with ostomy and cleft-lip patient care
• One professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required unless religious or medical exemption applies

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to pediatric step-down patients within a high-acuity trauma center setting
• Maintain an average patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Uses Epic charting system
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Participate in disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must not currently hold local employment within the same health system to return as a traveler until 2 years have passed
• RTO requests beyond 7 days require advance approval
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
