Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric OR RN for an 8-week contract in San Diego, CA. Requires at least 2 years of OR experience, including 6 months in pediatric OR or pediatric surgical cases, plus an active CA RN license in hand or ETA.

BLS and PALS certifications are required, with ACLS and CNOR preferred. The role is at a Level I trauma pediatric hospital with diverse service lines and a 4x10 shift schedule, including holidays and on-call nights.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Pediatric OR RN duties in a Level I trauma children's hospital with 16 OR suites
• Care for diverse pediatric surgical cases across multiple service lines
• Chart accurately in Epic and support cross-coverage
• Maintain flexible schedule: 4x10 with day/night options; on-call 4 calls/4 weeks
• Travel requirements include housing allowance and per diems

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric OR RN for an 8-week contract requiring 2 years of OR experience with at least 6 months of pediatric surgical experience and an active CA RN license.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand, or submission accepted with a confirmed ETA for licensure
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required, including at least 6 months of pediatric OR or general pediatric surgical experience
• BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications required
• ACLS and CNOR certifications preferred
• Experience in a teaching hospital, community hospital, and Level I and II trauma settings required
• Current flu shot required

Responsibilities

• Pediatric Operating Room unit within a Level I trauma children's hospital featuring 16 suites performing approximately 20,000 cases annually
• Service lines include Ortho, Neuro, Craniofacial, ENT, Dermatology, Laser, Plastics, Endo, Dental, Urology, General Surgery, Cardiac, and Kidney/Liver Transplants
• 4x10 variable shift schedule with day (7:00-19:00) and night (21:00-8:00) options
• First week scheduled as 8-hour shifts
• Weekend and holiday coverage required with full scheduling flexibility and no set rotation
• On-call requirement of 4 calls per 4-week schedule, including night call
• Float within scope to meet facility needs as required
• Charting completed in Epic
• Facility recognized as a Top 10 Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, Magnet designated, Beacon Award for Excellence recipient, and Level 1 trauma center
• Scrubs may be any color
• Maximum RTO of 6 days must be confirmed at time of submission
• Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers considered if candidate has strong relevant experience
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Previous permanent staff must be separated from employment for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
• Travelers who reach a one-year mark at this facility or its sister facility must wait 90 days before returning as a traveler
• Free traveler parking provided on-site
