Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position in Louisiana. The ideal candidate holds an Active Compact or LA RN license and is currently BLS certified, with 3+ years of OR experience.

You will support a busy OR with diverse specialties, work a day shift (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM), and participate in a structured call schedule. Travel requirements and compliance steps are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Active Compact or LA RN license in hand at submission
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of OR experience required
• Experience with gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, vascular, endoscopy, ophthalmology, and urology procedures
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit with an average daily census of 11 cases across 5 rooms
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Day shift schedule, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
• Call requirements include one weekend (Friday-Sunday) per month, one call day per week, one late day per week, and one 3rd late shift per week
• Scrubs are provided
• Procedures performed include general, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedic, vascular, pulmonary, and endoscopy cases
• 1:1 patient ratio experience
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring the traveler to remain onsite or serve on a relief team during emergency events
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually
• Orientation is held 5 days a week
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent staff or in-house contractors must be separated from health system for a full year before returning as travel employee
• RTO must be listed on candidate profile and discussed during interview

• Experience with a wide range of surgical specialties including gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, vascular, endoscopy, ophthalmology, and urology procedures
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration
