Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced OR Registered Nurse for a 13-week outpatient surgical services assignment in Arlington, VA. Requires an active VA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience across multiple specialties.

The role includes day shifts (5x8 hours, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM) with no weekends or holidays, 1:1 patient care, and potential on-call coverage in select areas. Epic EMR experience preferred; travel nurses welcomed.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and CNOR preferred.
• Minimum 2 years OR RN experience
• Proficiency across multiple surgical specialties
• Experience with 1:1 patient ratios
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Outpatient Pavilion surgical services unit handling General, GYN, Breast/Plastics, Urology, Ortho, Podiatry, and Eye cases
• 6 operating rooms with an average daily census of 35
• Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, no weekends or holidays
• Late stay sign-up required for call coverage
• On-call responsibilities apply only to certain specialty areas such as OT, IR, and Cath Lab, requiring candidates to be within 30 miles/30 minutes of the facility
• Floating may be required in rotation with client staff according to facility policy and Joint Commission standards
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Scrub role covering a wide range of surgical specialties including Gynecology, Plastics, Podiatry, Orthopedic, General Surgery, Endoscopic, Ophthalmology, Urology, and ENT procedures
• Utilizes equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Steris sterilization systems
• Up to 7 hours of non-billable training modules required during orientation, varying by specialty
• Smoke/nicotine-free facility
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1-March 31)
• COVID vaccination or qualifying exemption required
• Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a travelers
• First-time travelers may be considered with at least 2 years of prior OR RN experience
• RTO requests should be minimal and must be submitted upfront, as post-offer RTO requests will not be approved
