Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Neuro Stepdown/Telemetry unit in Wisconsin, requiring NIHSS certification and stepdown/telemetry experience.

Responsibilities include stroke/neuro/trauma care in a Level II trauma facility, 1:4 patient load, and rotating 3x12 shifts with weekend commitments. Must be licensed in WI/compact, with BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications and travel experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active WI or Compact RN license required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required.
• Required experience in Telemetry and Neuro Stepdown/PCU/DOU/IMC settings.
• Level II Trauma experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a busy stroke/neuro/trauma stepdown unit at a Level II trauma facility.
• Patient population includes stroke, neurosurgery, trauma, and general med/surg cases at an IMC/stepdown level of care.
• Special procedures include lumbar drains, NIHSS assessments, and stroke education.
• Typical patient assignment is 1:4, though ratios may be higher when additional resources are available.
• Rotating 3x12 shifts, mostly days with occasional nights as needed.
• Every other weekend required.
• Epic charting system used.
• Care for patients with strokes, aneurysms, craniotomies, intracranial bleeds, TBI, and spinal cord injuries.
• Provide post-TPA care and pre/post neurosurgical monitoring.
• Navy blue scrubs required.
• Must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal for respirator fit testing; no exceptions or exemptions permitted.
• No first-time travelers accepted.
• Candidates must live more than 70 miles from the facility to be considered.
• Clinicians cannot work past 1 year as a traveler and must take a 6-month break before returning
