Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position in Wisconsin. Requires 2+ years of cardiac/telemetry nursing and an active WI license or compact license; BLS/ACLS required, NIHSS preferred.

Epic EMR experience is required, and the role involves post-MI and post-cardiac surgery care, plus IV insulin protocols and complex patient management. Night shifts are 3x12 hours, with 1:4-5 patient ratios, occasional holiday coverage, and no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Active WI or compact RN license required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac/telemetry nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post-MI and pre/post cardiac surgery care
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Skilled in IV therapy, chest tube management, nasal cannula and wound care
• Must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal for respirator fit testing, as no medical or religious exemptions are accepted
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Cares for MS, MS/Tele, and Tele patients with floating required to all care areas as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• May require holiday coverage participation
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and post-surgical care
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must not have worked as a traveler at this facility for more than 1 year without taking a required 6-month break before returning
• Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and are not accepted for this position
