Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced Wound Care RN with WCC certification for a hospital travel assignment in Maryland. You will work in a wound care unit with a 1:6 patient ratio on a 7:30–16:00 day shift, one Saturday per month, and occasional weekend/holiday coverage.

Cerner EMR experience is required. Required are active MD or compact RN license, BLS, WCC; ACLS/WOCN preferred. Minimum 3 years hospital experience and travel nursing background are essential, with two supervisory

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Wound Care unit position with 1:6 patient ratio.
• Day shift schedule 5x8 hours, Mon-Fri 0730-1600 with one Saturday shift per month.
• Every third weekend and every other holiday coverage as needed.
• Cerner EMR experience required.
• Treats routine pressure injuries, including HAPI and Stage I-IV pressure ulcers.
• Cares for new ostomy placements and uses wound vacs and novel wound therapies.
• Uses camera photography for wound documentation.
• Provide comprehensive wound and ostomy assessment, treatment, and management for patients with acute and chronic wounds.
• Perform patient and family teaching related to wound, ostomy, and skin care.
• Follow infection control protocols and PPE guidelines.
• Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility.
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate.
• No RTO during first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract.
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler.

Requirements

• Active MD RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS and WCC certifications required
• ACLS and WOCN certifications preferred
• Minimum 3 years of hospital experience required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Prior travel nurse experience required, including completion of at least one travel assignment
• Charge nurse experience preferred

• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skilled in wound treatments and dressings including alginates, hydrocolloids, hydrogels, and enzymatic debriding agents
• Experience with pressure ulcer staging (Stage I-IV) and assessment
• Experience with neuropathic, peripheral arterial, and venous status ulcer assessment and management
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy management and care
• Skilled in Braden scale assessment and ulcer risk assessment tools
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years
