Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Telemetry travel assignment in a U.S. hospital setting. The role requires 2+ years of Med Surg/Telemetry experience and comfort with telemetry monitoring and drips.

Shifts are 12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, every other weekend, with no on-call. Candidates must have IA/compact RN license, BLS/ACLS, NIHSS, Epic EMR experience, and be willing to float to multiple units and support the team.

Qualifications

• Active IA or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA preferred; ARC or US Military accepted).
• Active NIHSS certification.
• 2+ years Med Surg/Telemetry experience.
• Experience with heparin, PCAs, epidurals, and critical drips.
• Comfort reading telemetry strips.
• Valid driver's license.
• Skills checklist specific to Med Surg.
• Supervisory reference within the last two years.

Responsibilities

• Nursing Float position within a Level 3 Trauma Center hospital setting
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Float to 3A, 4A, 5A, and ICU/Flex units required
• Uses Epic EMR
• Contribute professional and clinical knowledge as part of an interdisciplinary care team
• May be asked to float within the same discipline across local campuses
• Required to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day)
• Limited to 1 day off request during the periods of 11/25-11/29 and 12/23-12/27
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as no local candidates will be considered
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments in another market within 12 months of separation
