Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN with an active KY or compact RN license for a 30-bed telemetry unit serving post-surgical and transfer patients. You will perform comprehensive assessments, coordinate admissions and discharges, and support Bariatric Center of Excellence care on a 3x12-hour day shift (7a–7p).

Travel welcome; residency within 75 miles preferred. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, safety, and teamwork, with opportunities for ongoing education and relocation

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license KY or compact.
• BLS and ACLS required within 12 months of hire.
• Dysrhythmia competency validation required annually.
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred.
• No prior nursing experience required, though preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for telemetry patients on a 30-bed unit focusing on post-surgical and transfer cases.
• Coordinate admissions, transfers and discharge planning with patient and family education.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop prioritized care plans.
• Delegate tasks and participate in unit quality improvement activities.
• Shift: first shift 3x12-hour days, 7a–7p; weekends/holidays as needed.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (KY or compact)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required within 12 months of hire
• Annual Dysrhythmia Competency Validation required
• ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
• No prior nursing experience required, though previous nursing experience is preferred
• Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety devices
• Strong computer systems knowledge or ability to be trained
• Last 4 digits of SSN and MM/DD of date of birth required for consideration

Responsibilities

• 30-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit specializing in telemetry patients and fast turnaround surgery including urology, bariatrics, and orthopedic overflow
• Serves Bariatric Center of Excellence patients
• Patient population is mostly transferred from the ED and PACU
• First shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 7a-7p
• Weekends and holidays as needed
• Implements professional nursing practice centered on patient-centered, holistic care
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops prioritized care plans
• Coordinates admission, transfer, and discharge activities including patient and family education
• Delegates and oversees tasks performed by other care team members
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, falls prevention, and documentation audits
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility, though local candidates are accepted at a lower rate
