Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Ortho RN with a CA license and at least 2 years of recent orthopedic nursing experience for a fast-paced 15-bed unit.

The role requires active CA RN license, BLS, Epic EMR experience, and prior travel nursing. You’ll work a 1:5 RN-to-patient ratio on a day-shift schedule (3x12s) in a high-acuity orthopedic setting with generous housing and travel reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year orthopedics experience in past 2 years
• BLS certification mandatory
• Epic EMR experience required

Responsibilities

• Manage a 15-bed medical-surgical orthopedic unit with 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Care for post-surgical trauma, plastic, vascular, and other surgical/medical patients
• Day shift: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Collaborate with nursing team in a high-acuity environment
• Provide direct patient care for post-surgical orthopedic patients
• Coordinate with team to ensure patient safety and quality care
• Local candidates accepted at same pay rate; UC employees disclosure rules apply
• Returning staff should have at least 1-year gap before travel assignment

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Minimum one year of acute care experience required
• Minimum one year full-time equivalent experience in orthopedics within the past two years required
• BLS certification required
• CPI certification preferred, MS or Ortho certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required and must be documented in work history
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, and central line blood draws preferred
• Experience with non-invasive airway management, PCA, and peripheral nerve block catheters preferred
• Two supervisor references required at time of application
• Prior travel nursing experience required

• Provide direct patient care for post-surgical orthopedic and related medical/surgical patients
• Work closely with a supportive nursing team in a high-acuity environment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Previous UC employees must disclose prior employment and receive facility approval before starting assignment
• Returning staff must have a minimum one-year gap before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract is highly preferred, with no RTO allowed in the first two weeks of the assignment
