Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an Orthopedics RN with 2+ years of experience and Epic proficiency for a 13-week day shift assignment. The role requires an active NC or compact RN license, BLS, ACLS preferred, and Epic charting experience. Travel nurse background and pass of a compliance EKG exam are required.

Responsibilities include pre-op/post-op orthopedic care, 1:6 nurse-patient ratio, and floating to campuses as needed, with no on-call. Holiday and weekend commitments apply.

Qualifications

• Active NC or compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Orthopedic and trauma nursing experience required.
• Epic charting system experience required.
• Previous travel nurse experience required.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred.
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred.
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam with up to two attempts allowed.
• Valid driver's license required to verify address.

Responsibilities

• Orthopedics unit specializing in pre-op and post-op care.
• Patient population includes elective and trauma orthopedic patients, including total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with possible stretch to 1:7.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Every other weekend required.
• Requires working one holiday and one evening shift during the holiday period.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses Rapid Response Teams.
• Uses Safe Patient Handling equipment and orthopedic equipment including CPM, Knee Immobilizer, and Bone Foam.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Floating to any campus within the health system as needed.
• Provide direct patient care for orthopedic surgical and trauma cases.
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams as needed for patient safety.
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as no local rates apply.
• No first-time travelers will be considered for this position.
• RTO requests must be submitted with the application; no post-submission RTO accepted.
