Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Chemo-Certified Oncology RN for a 13-week day-shift assignment in Ohio. The role requires an active RN license in OH, BLS, ONS/ONCC chemo certification, and Epic charting experience. Minimum 1 year acute care experience and oncology exposure are preferred.

Expect 8-hour day shifts with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and travel housing benefits. Experience with IV therapy, port care, and chemotherapy administration is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

American Traveler is hiring a Chemo-Certified Oncology RN with ONS/ONCC certification and Epic charting experience for a 13-week day-shift assignment.

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ONS/ONCC chemo certification required
• Minimum of 1 year acute care experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior experience in inpatient or outpatient oncology settings accepted
• Skilled in IV therapy including port access/management, PICC line care, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience administering chemotherapy and blood/blood products
• Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and manage chemotherapy side effects
• Experience caring for patients with bladder/kidney, breast, colorectal, kidney, lung, ovarian, uterine, and prostate cancers
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 24 months required
• Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Inpatient and outpatient oncology unit with an average daily census of 25 across 8 rooms
• Adult and geriatric patient population with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Uses Pyxis medication system and Epic Beacon for documentation
• Utilizes Alaris and CADD infusion pumps and lab centrifuge equipment
• Provider support includes pharmacy, social services, transportation, and unit secretary
• Intensivist/Medical Oncologist available daily by phone, in-house 2 days/week; NP in-house 1-2 days/week
• Floating to other units and/or facilities may be required
• Provide direct care to oncology patients including IV chemotherapy administration, bladder installations, and implanted port care
• Perform foley catheter insertions, peripheral IV insertion, and SQ/IM injections
• Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary support team including pharmacy and social services
• Deliver patient and family education and psychosocial support
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free parking available on-site
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for travel rate; local candidates not accepted
• Previous permanent staff must have a 1-year separation from employment before being eligible to return as a travel clinician
• Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval; time off is not granted around holidays (eves, days, and days after)
• Travel experience preferred for this assignment
