Assignment Overview

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13‑week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and a compact or PA RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 29 private beds
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7
• Patient population includes Med/Surg, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end of life, and low‑volume inpatient chemo cases
• May be assigned to both 'clean' and 'dirty' (COVID) patients simultaneously on separate hallways
• Remote telemetry monitoring available, monitored off‑unit by monitor techs
• No cardiac drips administered; may administer Heparin and MSO4 for comfort measures
• Vent support (BiPap, CPap, High Flow) managed by Respiratory Therapy
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12‑hour night shifts, 7p-7:30a, 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Floating limited to other Med/Surg units
• 1 shift of unit‑specific orientation with a preceptor
• No dedicated CNA support on night shift

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or PA) required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Must disclose any professional license actions at time of consideration
• Unexpired driver’s license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Unit led by a Clinical Manager who also serves as charge nurse, taking patients only when census exceeds 24
• Night shift resource nurse carries a full patient assignment
• Scrub color requirement is navy blue, including any jackets worn
• Holiday coverage required as part of the standard staff holiday rotation
• Candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius of the facility; no local travelers accepted
• Previous WVU Medicine employees must have a 2‑year break before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2‑year break
• Interview process is conducted directly with the unit manager
