Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Med/Surg RN with travel experience for a night-shift renal/urological unit in Texas. Requires TX or compact RN license, BLS, and 2+ years of RN experience. Epic charting experience preferred; travel nursing background required.

Responsibilities include telemetry care, post-prostate/renal surgeries, 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, and 3x12-hour night shifts with weekend work. Lodging, per diem, and licensure support offered.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Experience with 3-way catheter irrigations, bladder scans, and incontinence procedures preferred.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and PICC line management skills.
• Experience managing colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tubes.
• Administering medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA.
• Respiratory care skills including HFNC, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration.
• Cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation & management.
• Isolation precautions, PPE, and wound care/wound vac experience.
• Previous staff nurse/charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients on a renal/urological medical-surgical telemetry unit.
• Post-surgery care for prostate, renal, bladder, and kidney procedures.
• Unit may receive general med-surgical and telemetry overflow admissions.
• Maintain patient ratio of 1:6 on night shift (3 x 12-hour shifts).
• Weekend shifts required; float to adjacent units as needed.
• Use Epic charting system for documentation.
• Direct care for renal/urological surgical patients including telemetry monitoring.
• Travelers not accepted from within 50 miles of the facility or nearby counties.
• Policy: no more than 3 days of RTO; no RTO during orientation first week.
• Travel pairs/groups not accepted for this position.

• Unit may also receive general medical-surgical and telemetry overflow admissions
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Weekend shifts required
• Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide direct care for renal and urological surgical patients, including telemetry monitoring and post-surgical management
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Travelers residing in specific nearby Texas counties are not eligible for this position
• Previous staff must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
