Job summary

American Traveler Staffing Professionals is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical assignment in Fishersville, Virginia. The role requires 2 years of Med/Surg experience and a VA or Compact RN license, with BLS.

Night shift, 36 hours per week, 26 weeks, start date October 5, 2026. Openings: 2. The 32-bed Med/Surg unit focuses on new technology and innovative nursing practice.

Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical position requiring 2 years of experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• 32-bed medical/surgical unit (2 West – Medical Innovation Unit) focused on new technology and innovative nursing practice
• Uses Hercules beds and other advanced equipment as an early adopter unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• PM shift every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Staff self-schedule in rotating groups on a weekly basis
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• Floating required to cover staffing needs as needed
• Meditech charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and peripheral line care required
• Experience with respiratory care including oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and oral suctioning required
• Experience administering medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and PCA required
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team activation required
• Drug screen required during compliance and again on first day onsite
• Fit testing required; facial hair must be shaved unless a provider-approved exemption letter is submitted in advance

• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted

• Candidates who previously worked in a permanent role at this facility within the past 24 months are not eligible
• RTO expectations scale with holidays falling during the assignment: one holiday must be worked, two holidays requires working one, and three holidays requires working two
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday, with the first day used for a drug screen at Employee Health before starting the first full shift the following Tuesday
