Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a correctional facility. The role requires 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience and prior correctional nursing experience, with IL RN license and BLS in hand.

The position features a 4x10 day shift (9:00 AM–7:30 PM), mandatory float within facility, and Cerner charting. Local candidates within 75 miles supported; Navy blue scrubs and free parking are provided as perks.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required in hand upon consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience
• Correctional nursing experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skills include isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, oxygen administration
• Two professional references from most recent employers, one per employer
• Proof of COVID vaccination required (booster not required)

Responsibilities

• Correctional facility Med/Surg unit setting
• 4x10 day shift schedule, 9:00 AM-7:30 PM
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Every other weekend requirement (2 weekends per month)
• Mandatory float within facility scope
• May float to other Cook facilities within 50 miles with notice
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Provide direct patient care within correctional health services
• Team-based care when floated outside primary competency
• RTO limited to 5 days max, no consecutive days, no weekend RTO, no holiday RTO
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free parking on a first come, first served basis
• Local candidates within 75 miles accepted at reduced local rate
• Returning candidates recredentialed and oriented after breaks
• First-time travelers not considered

• Team-based care model implemented when staff are floated outside their primary competency
• RTO limited to 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no weekend RTO
• No holiday RTO and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free parking available on a first come, first served basis
• Local candidates accepted within 75 miles of the facility at a reduced local rate
• Returning candidates must undergo full recredentialing and orientation, even after short breaks in contract
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
