Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position in Michigan. The role requires an active MI RN license, BLS (AHA), and a minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

The assignment includes a 10-bed ER overflow observation unit with night shifts (19:00–07:30), floating to other Med/Surg units, and every-other-weekend work. Travel experience is highly preferred, but strong permanent experience may be considered. Local candidates within 50 miles may have different pay rates.

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license required.
• BLS certification (AHA) required.
• Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg experience required.
• Must be willing to work with a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit, including a 10-bed ER overflow observation unit.
• Observation unit focuses on constant reassessment of patient readiness for discharge amid rapid admissions and discharges.
• Observation unit ratios are 1:6 at night and 1:5 during the day.
• Other Med/Surg units care for a variety of medical patients with ratios of 1:5-6 at night, flexing up to 8 with LPN support.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30.
• Required to work every other weekend.
• First to float, with floating required to other Med Surg units.
• Works alongside a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs.
• Travel experience highly preferred, though candidates with strong permanent experience may be considered.
• Holiday RTO is not approved for this assignment.
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed at this time.
• Local candidates within 50 miles may be offered a different pay rate.
