Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing seeks a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Indianapolis, IN. Start date 10/05/2026; 36 hours per week, nights, travel employment.

You will assess maternal and fetal health, administer treatments, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care during labor, delivery and the immediate postpartum period. Requirements include 1 year of L&D RN experience, valid RN license, BLS, and NRP certification.

Qualifications

• One year of recent Labor and Delivery RN experience was required.
• Valid RN license as per state regulations.
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
• NRP Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per obstetric nursing techniques.
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during labor, delivery, and examinations.
• Provide immediate postpartum care including mother and newborn assessment.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence-based protocols.
• Document care and interventions in the medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve outcomes.
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
• Comply with hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines.
• Perform other duties within the scope of labor and delivery nursing.
