Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology RN with 2 years of IR experience and 5 years of critical care nursing experience for a day shift in California. CA RN license and current BLS/ACLS required. Duties include pre/post procedure care and experience with CT/fluoroscopy.

Unit includes 1 procedure room, 2 recovery bays, CT rooms, and a bronch room. Travel-friendly position with on-call after shifts and weekend coverage; housing and licensure reimbursements offered.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications accepted (AHA/Red Cross)
• Minimum 2 years Interventional Radiology experience
• Minimum 5 years Critical Care RN experience
• Experience with pre/post procedure care and specialized procedures
• Experience with vascular/access devices incl. PICC/port
• Experience with endovascular interventions and imaging
• Knowledge of IV meds, sedation, and monitoring
• Experience with CT/fluoroscopy equipment
• Prior charge or leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in the Interventional Radiology unit of a hospital setting
• Provide direct patient care for IR, genitourinary, GI, and pulmonary procedures
• Handle on-call duties after shifts and 24-hour weekend on-call
• Floating to meet facility needs as required
• Travel pairing accepted with matching schedules
• Support researchers and ensure patient safety during procedures

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology RN with 2 years of IR experience and 5 years of critical care nursing experience for a day shift position requiring CA RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA and Red Cross accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience required
• Minimum 5 years of Critical Care RN experience required
• Experience with pre and post procedure care and special procedures
• Skills required in gastrostomy tube placement, liver biopsy, paracentesis, embolization, nephrostomy, and renal angiography
• Skills required in chest tube placement, lung biopsy, and thoracentesis
• Experience with central venous access including non-tunneled/PICC and port placement
• Experience with dialysis graft creation, revision, and intervention
• Experience with endovascular interventions
• Knowledge of antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, reversal agents, and thrombolytics
• Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• IV therapy skills including central line insertion/management, blood product administration, implanted port care, IV infusion pumps, PICC line care, and IV starts
• Skills in activated clotting time, cardioversion, circulate procedures, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and external compression devices
• Knowledge of hypothermia protocol, infection prevention, dysrhythmia management, isolation precautions/PPE, and malignant hyperthermia protocol
• Ability to obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG and perform pressure ulcer assessment and prevention
• Knowledge of radiation and laser safety and Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale monitoring
• Experience with vascular closure systems such as Perclose and StarClose
• Cath Lab experience preferred
• Meditech charting system experience preferred but not required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• RTO must be submitted with initial profile

Responsibilities

• Work in the Interventional Radiology unit of a hospital setting
• Patient diagnoses include renal failure, pulmonary issues, biopsies, chest tubes, dialysis, catheters, lumbar puncture, and kyphoplasty
• Unit includes 1 procedure room, 2 recovery bays, 2 CT rooms, and 1 bronch room
• Uses CT and fluoroscopy equipment
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 4x10 hour shifts from 0700-1730
• On-call responsibilities required immediately following shifts and 24-hour on-call coverage on weekends
• Every other weekend required (Sunday not considered part of the weekend)
• Floating required based on facility needs
• Provide direct patient care for a range of interventional radiology, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary procedures
• Tele and MS/Tele travelers should expect to float to DOU within their scope of practice
• Travel pairs accepted, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
• Required annual training modules average 6 hours to complete and are tracked by the facility
