Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN - Med/Surg Infusion nurse to provide safe infusion therapy to stable patients at a facility near El Paso, TX. A TX or compact RN license and Cerner EMR experience are required.

Position requires active BLS, a valid driver's license, and consent to background checks, with day-to-day duties including administration of chemotherapy-related infusions and coordination with care teams.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Cerner EMR experience required and must be listed in EMR experience and employment history.
• Chemotherapy certification not required.
• Must meet required experience listed for the position.
• Driver's license required for consideration.
• Date of birth required for consideration.
• Social Security number required for consideration (full SSN preferred, last 4 acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Care for stable patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, iron infusions, biologics, antibiotics, hydration therapy, and blood products.
• Review treatment plans and laboratory results prior to administering care.
• Assess patient readiness for treatment and start peripheral IVs or access ports/PICCs.
• Administer premedications and infusions while monitoring for reactions or side effects.
• Educate patients and families on medications and symptom management.
• Coordinate care with providers, pharmacy, and schedulers.
• Must be open to working any day of the week as self-scheduling is not available.
• Assess patients before treatment, verifying orders, labs, allergies, and treatment parameters.
• Document treatment and coordinate follow-up care.
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• Keep requested time off (RTO) to less than 7 days.
• Returning permanent employees must obtain approval prior to consideration.
• Change of agency is not permitted for this facility.
