Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a WA or compact RN license for a critical care unit with float requirements. The role is in the WA region with 12-hour day shifts and rotating weekends, with on-site support including RT, pharmacy, and IV teams.

• Active WA state or compact RN license (NLC)
• 2 years RN experience in specialty required
• BLS and ACLS (AHA) active, not pending
• BSN not required
• Strong Med-Surg RN background preferred
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references: one supervisor (last 12 months) and one peer/supervisor (last 3 years) with dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Acute care Medical ICU with 82 beds across 3 floors (48 ICU, 34 PCU)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios 1:1 or 1:2 in ICU; 1:3 in PCU
• Primarily PCU with float to ICU as needed
• Care for all critical care diagnoses including ventilated patients
• PCU drips: cardizem, nitro, insulin, heparin; no pressors or vents in PCU
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour day shifts 7a-7p; every other weekend
• Charge nurse on each floor with 2 nurse aides per floor
• 24/7 RT, pharmacy, and IV team support
• On-site hospitalist/intensivist; night coverage via virtual ICU and ARNP
• Direct patient care in high-acuity CC environment
• Orientation up to 1 week with educator (min 2 shifts)
• Float eligibility between ICU and PCU; possible Region Two cross-facility float
• Rotating holiday coverage with permanent staff
• No scrub color requirements
• Historically not employed by CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities within past year
• PRN experience via outside staffing firms considered

• IABP or CRRT experience not required unless previously performed

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting in a Medical ICU with 82 critical care beds across 3 floors (48 ICU, 34 PCU)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in PCU
• Primarily assigned to PCU with float to ICU as needed
• Cares for all critical care diagnoses including patients on ventilators and ICU-level drips
• PCU drips include cardizem, nitro, insulin, and heparin; no pressors or vents in PCU
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p, every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday for days, Friday and Saturday for nights)
• Primary facility with potential float to other Region Two facilities, including rate differential for floats outside the primary site
• Charge nurse on each floor with 2 nurse aides per floor
• 24/7 RT, pharmacy, and IV team support available
• Dayshift hospitalist/intensivist on site; nightshift coverage via virtual ICU and in-house ARNP for procedures
• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity critical care environment with complex diagnoses
• Participate in floor-specific orientation, typically up to 1 week with an educator (minimum 2 shifts)
• Float eligibility required between ICU and PCU units, and potentially across Region Two facilities
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis with permanent staff
• No specific scrub color requirements
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
