Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and a CT or compact RN license. The role supports two nearby campuses with shuttle service and uses Epic EMR.

The position offers a day shift (4x12s, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM), every other weekend, and no on-call obligations. First-time travelers are welcome; remote travel assignments may be required.

Qualifications

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; TNCC preferred.
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, and central venous line care.
• Experience with ventilator management, continuous IV sedation, and respiratory/thoracic care.
• Neurological care experience including EVD management preferred.
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and hemodynamic monitoring including Swan-Ganz/pulmonary artery lines.
• 1 professional reference required.
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; COVID vaccine/booster required with exemptions only.

Responsibilities

• ICU float pool position within a Level I Trauma Center, short-term acute care facility.
• Floats between two campuses located near each other, with shuttle service provided.
• Floats across 5 ICU specialties as well as step-down units, including pulmonary stepdown with 1:3 ratios.
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Provide ICU-level nursing care across multiple specialty units and step-down settings as needed based on facility demand.
• Participate in required emergency response and natural disaster preparedness activities as needed.
• Complete required RN training modules (approximately 2 hours) prior to start and annually
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Former staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• Requests for RTO exceeding 7 days require additional approval
