Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week assignment at a Magnet, Level II Trauma hospital in Alaska. Active AK RN license, BLS/ACLS, NIHSS, and Epic EMR are required with 2+ years ICU and prior travel experience.

Must handle 1:2 patient ratios, arterial lines, ventilators, and complex care protocols. Shifts are 3x12, day and night rotations with weekend coverage and no on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Active AK RN license in hand.
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience; prior travel nursing experience.
• Epic EMR experience; able to manage 1:2 patient ratios.
• Sedation and ventilator management experience; arterial lines and IV therapy.
• CVA/acute stroke, renal failure, and multisystem care experience desirable.
• Certifications and readiness for Alaska assignment; SSN and DOB required.

Responsibilities

• Provide critical care nursing in the ICU of a Magnet, Level II Trauma Center.
• Care for cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal patients per unit protocol.
• Utilize Epic charting; coordinate care with 3x12 shifts and holiday coverage.
• Float within scope to related units as needed; ensure safety and quality.
• Support patient and family education; comply with hospital policies.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with an active AK RN license for a 13-week assignment at a Magnet, Level II Trauma hospital.

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required in hand for consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with 1:2 patient ratios
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and renal failure patients
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and multisystem organ dysfunction care
• Experience with IV insulin protocols
• Preferred experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury, and TBI management
• Preferred experience with IABP, post-cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath, Swan-Ganz monitoring, sheath removal, and TAVR
• Candidates must provide SSN and DOB for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit of an acute care hospital
• Magnet facility and Level II Trauma Center recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
• 407 staffed beds
• 3x12 variable shifts covering both day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) schedules
• Weekend shifts required
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float to like units within scope if needed
• Uses Epic charting system
• Scrubs provided
• Free parking available
• Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal cases
• May be required to float between sister facilities within the state
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All requested time off must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates are not accepted; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they live outside the 50-mile radius
• Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities, including dates and location
